This series adopts an experimental and nuanced approach to creating materials that complement the glassblowing process. This method emphasizes conceptualizing finished glass forms through extensive interactions with a different material. Unlike glass, I am not proficient in forming these materials and so my end goals are heavily bastardized through the language of the moulding material. This yields fantastic spontaneous forms I wouldn't otherwise conceive of blowing at the bench or illustrating with an intention to blow.

The term "Mezza Forma," meaning "half form" or "half mold," highlights the bridging of two material worlds while also referencing a naive approach to mold-making in contrast to the refined traditions of industrial craft. I guess in some way these forms are an unraveling the perfectionist and refined constraints of high craftsmanship and sit in opposition to my other refined euro-centric designs.

Caring instructions

To keep your glassware pristine for generations, follow these simple steps:

  • Cleaning Solution: Use a mixture of equal parts distilled water, white vinegar, and isopropyl alcohol. Apply with a lint-free cloth for a natural, streak-free shine.
  • Avoid Scratches: Limit contact between glasses to prevent scratches and chipping. This applies to both hand washing and dishwasher use. Ensure glasses have ample space in the dishwasher and use tines to secure them to avoid rattling.
  • Dishwasher Tips: Be mindful of the dishwasher's design and avoid pre-washing glasses, as it can cause cloudiness. Refer to expert advice on maintaining shine and avoid sudden temperature changes to prevent stress and breakage.
